Everyone meet Jasmine. Jasmine just turned 15 years old and celebrated her Quinceanera two weeks ago today.

I had the honor of being her photographer. Since this was my first time photographing a Quinceanera, I took the client with the thought of the day being like a wedding. I spent about 8 hours with her photographing the days events. Let me walk you through as I saw it through my lens.
In this photograph below, Jasmine puts on her dress and comes around the corner totally excited about showing her dress off to her family. She said she feels like a Mexican Cinderella. I think she looked better then Cinderella!

Here her Aunt help with putting on this beautiful pearl necklace.

Next we head outside for some quick photographs. Later we’re heading to the park. I wanted to see how the guys and girls get along and see if they were a fun bunch or kicked back group.

Jasmine and her proud Father.

Next Jasmine gets inside the car totally excited about what is coming next. She decides to give us a happy dance.

We arrive at the church where the priest will bless and give communion during the mass.

Offering flowers to the Virgin Mary is part of the ceremony.

Jasmine’s parents are holding the Holly Bible that the priest is blessing. The bible will guide Jasmine in her walk through becoming a women.

After the mass we do a few group photos. Jasmine’s Godmother and Grandmother.

Jasmine’s Uncles or also known as Padrinos.

Next we drive to the park where her Mom and Dad used to hangout when they were dating. This area was a little challenging as it didn’t provide me with any cover from the sun. This time of day the sun was high and bright.

I was left all alone with no parents insight to help me keep them all focused. You know what the saying is, when the cats away the mice will play. Well this time it felt like pulling teeth to get the guys to work with me. It took all my skills as I tried to pull out all the stops to make each photograph work. You could see the lack of excitement in their faces in the image below. The only one smiling is Jasmine.

Since the guys weren’t giving me anything to work with, I decided to pull the ladies together and do something a little fun.

Following the park comes the reception where Jasmine dances the night away!

I have to thank Jasmine and Miguel’s family for giving me this opportunity to capture the days events. This was my first Quinceanera and I had a blast. This family has lots of love and compassion for one anther. Thank you once again!
