Family Session with Chris, Malisa and her family {Family}

Memorial Day Weekend I had the pleasure of meeting and photography Chris, Malisa and their two month old daughter Gracen. The family was referred to me by my good friend Neepa.

Chris and Malisa wanted family photographs since Gracen was still young. Her sister Tabitha flew in from New York and her Dad Peter also came for the all the excitement. Chris and Malisa also booked Gracen’s newborn session which I’ll post in a up coming blog.

Are you ready to meet an awesome family?

Meet Chris, Malisa and Gracen!

I pulled everyone together a few times and did a family portrait. I loved this little park as it had these awesome brick pillars, clean walk ways and beautiful trees.

Anther unique element to this park was this gazebo. It was huge and provided me enough shade from the direct sunlight. It was a perfect chance for me to photograph Chris and Malisa by themselves. View full post »

Newborn Session with the Ackerman’s {Newborn}

Do you remember my maternity session with the Ackerman’s (http://www.anthonylujanphotography.com/blog/archives/259) ? We’ll they had a baby boy named Jaxon! He’s one handsome little guy.

Recap, Bryan and Fabi came to me from a referral. They are a sweet and loving family. Here are a few photographs from our maternity session in March.

One of my typical photographs is the parents combining their hands to make a heart on the tummy. Since we had Noah (big brother) I wanted to capture his hands, too. Some times I see my clients photographs and a few of them stick out in my mind. This is one that does this.

Anthony Lujan’s Maternity Information

Anthony Lujan Photography would be proud to document this special time in your lives.

Anthony feels that your comfort is most important, please be assured that this is his priority during your maternity session. He strives to not only capture beautiful moments for you and your partner, but also make the experience enjoyable and comfortable. He understands the strong desire for your portraits to be as flattering as possible during your pregnancy.

Please do not wear anything with elastic on your belly for a few hours before your session. The elastic can leave unflattering markings on your belly. Watches and some other jewelry can have this same effect. Do not forget about your feet! Tight socks can leave marks too; consider wearing flip-flops to your session.

At Anthony Lujan Photography he uses natural light in his images, but will bring portable studio if need be. His style is to get some natural shots around your home, such as near a window, but also to do work with the backdrops that he will provide. Clothing suggestions will be discussed during the consultation, but again, your comfort level determines which clothing pieces are used. Your partner and children are more than welcome to join you for portraits as well.

Anthony looks forward to your session!

Maternity Session with the Runyon’s

I want to share with you some photographs from my recent maternity session with the Runyon’s. I can’t help but look back and feel as a photographer, I’m finding my niche. I feel that I have my camera understood which allows me to focus on my clients during our session rather than the technical aspect of working the camera. This allows me to focus on the details like hair, makeup, clothing and poses.

So with this in mind, let me introduce the Runyon’s.

Megan is about 7 1/2 months pregnant. This is her second child. We decided to use her parents house as it’s warm and inviting with lots of room for us to work.

Below is the entry doors into the courtyard. I saw this image in my head as I unloaded the car. I had to get it out of my head and into the camera. This photograph ties as my favorite from the session.

This photograph below also ties as my favorite.

Good work, Tony! These are really pretty.

Jasmine’s Quinceanera

Everyone meet Jasmine. Jasmine just turned 15 years old and celebrated her Quinceanera two weeks ago today.

anthonylujanphotography-quinceaneraphotography0191

I had the honor of being her photographer. Since this was my first time photographing a Quinceanera, I took the client with the thought of the day being like a wedding.  I spent about 8 hours with her photographing the days events. Let me walk you through as I saw it through my lens.

In this photograph below, Jasmine puts on her dress and comes around the corner totally excited about showing her dress off to her family. She said she feels like a Mexican Cinderella. I think she looked better then Cinderella!

Here her Aunt help with putting on this beautiful pearl necklace.

anthonylujanphotography-quinceaneraphotography0011

Next we head outside for some quick photographs. Later we’re heading to the park. I wanted to see how the guys and girls get along and see if they were a fun bunch or kicked back group.

Jasmine and her proud Father.

Next Jasmine gets inside the car totally excited about what is coming next. She decides to give us a happy dance.

We arrive at the church where the priest will bless and give communion during the mass.

Offering flowers to the Virgin Mary is  part of the ceremony.

Jasmine’s parents are holding the Holly Bible that the priest is blessing. The bible will guide Jasmine in her walk through becoming a women.

anthonylujanphotography-quinceaneraphotography0111

After the mass we do a few group photos. Jasmine’s Godmother and Grandmother.

Jasmine’s Uncles or also known as Padrinos.

anthonylujanphotography-quinceaneraphotography0122

Next we drive to the park where her Mom and Dad used to hangout when they were dating. This area was a little challenging as it didn’t provide me with any cover from the sun. This time of day the sun was high and bright.

anthonylujanphotography-quinceaneraphotography0161

I was left all alone with no parents insight to help me keep them all focused.  You know what the saying is, when the cats away the mice will play. Well this time it felt like pulling teeth to get the guys to work with me. It took all my skills as I tried to pull out all the stops to make each photograph work.  You could see the lack of excitement in their faces in the image below.  The only one smiling is Jasmine.

anthonylujanphotography-quinceaneraphotography0181

Since the guys weren’t giving me anything to work with, I decided to pull the ladies together and do something a little fun.

anthonylujanphotography-quinceaneraphotography0171

Following the park comes the reception where Jasmine dances the night away!

anthonylujanphotography-quinceaneraphotography0201

I have to thank Jasmine and Miguel’s family for giving me this opportunity to capture the days events. This was my first Quinceanera and I had a blast. This family has lots of love and compassion for one anther. Thank you once again!
