I want to share with you some photographs from my recent maternity session with the Runyon’s. I can’t help but look back and feel as a photographer, I’m finding my niche. I feel that I have my camera understood which allows me to focus on my clients during our session rather than the technical aspect of working the camera. This allows me to focus on the details like hair, makeup, clothing and poses.
So with this in mind, let me introduce the Runyon’s.
Megan is about 7 1/2 months pregnant. This is her second child. We decided to use her parents house as it’s warm and inviting with lots of room for us to work.
Below is the entry doors into the courtyard. I saw this image in my head as I unloaded the car. I had to get it out of my head and into the camera. This photograph ties as my favorite from the session.

This photograph below also ties as my favorite.

Megan and her husband Josh have a two year daughter named Natalie. I had the pleasure of photographing Natalie when she was about one years old. She’s growing up to be a beautiful girl with equal parts of mommy and equal parts daddy.

If the parents already have children, I try to have them touch the belly or give a nice tender kiss to the belly. Natalie below decided to give a her brother or sister a kiss.

Besides the typical family portrait, I try to get a photograph of the families hands. With the parents I do my traditional heart shape with their hands. Here I asked Megan to talk to Natalie and ask if Natalie could touch mommy’s belly. A few tries and I was able to capture this precious moment.

Anther photograph I love doing is having the father’s arms around the belly. I love the contrast between the belly and the man’s arms. Here I asked Megan to bring her hands in with Josh’s and out of the blue Natalie comes and wants her mommy to go and do something with her. I saw the moment and took it. I’m sure this type of photograph won’t happen often.

I like to pull the parents aside and photograph them together. Here we are in the courtyard almost ready to enter the house and I asked Josh to give Megan a kiss on the cheek.

The photograph below could be considered a couples photograph and not maternity as the belly isn’t shown. This I like to do. Sometimes the couples haven’t been photographed since their wedding. So I like to give them this little extra gift.

I hope you enjoyed looking at their maternity session with me. This couple was a lot of fun and gave me so much to work with.
Runyon Family, thank you once again!!
