Today’s “Travel Tuesday” is about my trip to Seattle, Washington. I went to Seattle on business in 2007. It was suppose to only be a day trip but I extended it a couple more days as I really wanted to see the city.
The month was January almost three years to the date. It was cold, damp and overcast. I figured since my trip was going to be extremely quick I wanted to book a tour so I could capture all the main highlights. Well if you have ever tried to book a tour during this time, you’ll quickly see they don’t have any! Well, not 100% correct! I found one and the only one!
The tour guide took us to the Fremont Troll, passed by the Space Needle, took photographs at Kerry Park and we were set free at Pike Place Market.
I knew Seattle was known for having American Bald Eagles. I had always dreamed about photographing them. So I asked the tour guide if I could hire him for a few hours so he could drive me around to find some. She said sure he had nothing else to do that evening. Evening is the key word. The guide took me to Schmitz Park. The only two photographs I was able to capture of the Bald Eagle was right when the sun was setting. Not the best photographs I’ve ever taken but still had them photographed! Now the guide and I decided to walk the park. We saw a huge tree that had fallen down and all the roots were exposed. I photographed the guide who is 6’1 in front of the fallen tree. You’ll see the roots were huge!
On my last full day I heard that Seattle has an amazing zoo called the Woodland Park Zoo. I also heard that the Pacific Science Center had a butterfly exhibit. So I rushed down to the Pacific Science Center to photograph the butterflies then rushed to the zoo. The zoo photographs I’ll add in a future blog.
But now enjoy the butterflies and the rest of the photographs from my trip to Seattle, Washington!
