Last weekend we celebrated my sister Julia’s birthday. I can’t tell you what number she turned but it starts with a “4″ :+) My grandmother wanted to give Julia a nice party because she’s really been helping them with taking them to doctors appointments and many day in and day out stuff. Since my sister and grandmother are great cooks, I thought I would pitch in and BBQ some food and give them a break from the kitchen.
Here’s Julia is blowing out her candles. Did you notice that she has “4″ of them on the cake?

My nephew enjoyed the cake, too.

Nolan kept getting text messages from all his girlfriends.

Here’s a little behind the scenes of me cooking in the backyard. When it comes to the hummingbirds, watch the far feeder for them flying around. Also to clarify, I did not marinate the steak my mother and grandmother did (mom will now be happy that I cleared it up).
Yes my grandparents are growing grapes, just look at the beautiful color!

As my birthday present to my sister, I told her I would photograph her and her two boys. She was excited and started thinking of a location. She wanted the beach setting towards sunset. So we deciced to pack up the car and head down to Long Beach. Well I remember the rail car in Seal Beach and knew it might grab my nephew’s attention (which would be great for the photos).

I’ll be showing you more from the rail car in a later blog. But I couldn’t help showing you my youngest nephew Tristan. He’s so cute!!

Here’s Julia up in the tree holding Tristian. I loved how they are both looking at something else then me.

I ran across the street to snap this one. My oldest sister Angela came along with Nolan and his friend Datoine.

Julia and I hit the Fashion District in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. Here’s the fabric she bought. Datoine got us started and got himself wrapped up while Julia was photographing him.

Here’s the behind the scenes video of Julia photographing Datoine.
So I had to get into action and get my photographs in too. I couldn’t pass this up!

The fabric looked like real animal fur but thank goodness it wasn’t! Nolan wrapped himself up in it and smiled for the camera.

Even my sister Angela got in on the action.

Finally we arrive at the Seal Beach Pier. Now we focus on Julia and her boys. Julia really wanted to hit the section in Seal Beach where their were lots of rocks and water. I’m sad to say we never made it past the pier (sorry sister!!). As I’ve mentioned I have more coming from this session in anther blog.

Julia, I hope you had a great birthday! Thank you for allowing me to BBQ for you and also allowing me to photograph you and your boys! I had a blast!! Love you!!!
